Not by the hairs of my chinny-chin-chin

Bah. It looks like I’m finally going to have to start shaving more than once every two weeks. I’d post a picture of my 10 or so whiskers as proof, but it’s surprisingly difficult to take a close-up but in-focus picture of your own chin.

It’s not fair. If I’m going to grow facial hair at all, I should at least be able to do something with it; since this is just long peach fuzz and a few dark whiskers, it means I’ll have to shave just to not look sort of weird. It’d be much easier if these few out-of-line follicles didn’t grow at all. I’d be perfectly fine with having a hairless face.

Double-bah. I don’t like growing up. At least I can take solace in the fact that I didn’t have to shave at all until my senior year of high school, and I only had to start shaving regularly this year.

For years my only facial hair was from the mole on my chin. Endless torment due to being the kid with “The Hairy Mole”. Shaving is not so simple here–praise god for the electric shaver.

Have _you_ ever tried to shave a mole? I don’t mean the rodent kind, either.

I have a small mole on my right jawline, but it’s big enough to produce 3 or 4 long dark hairs. Grawr.

If it’s just a few random annoying hairs, consider tweezing instead of shaving. Much faster, and more aesthetically effective in the multiply-iterated long-term.

I don’t think I’d do it, because (a) I want to see if I ever will grow anything that could be styled in any way (doubtful, given my father’s attempts, but who knows), and (b) I have a strong association between plucking and vanity, probably because my mom has said something along those lines.

    Funny story…

The scene: My family at a restaurant.
The question from Dad: Jo, do you pluck your unibrow?
    The response: confusion all around.
The clarification: I have a slight unibrow, and he apparently assumed that my sister would too…

    Heh.

I have a weak beard too, although it’s gotten better over the years… So you may have a shot in your thirties. Or forties. :^)

Plucking doesn’t preven you from doing anything later, it just lasts longer than shaving.

I’ve gotten to the point where I have to shave every day or two, but it’ll still be about another decade before I can actually grow anything like a decent beard, at this rate. The most I can do now is look something like Shaggy, which is to say generally scruffy.

Eh, I think you have a pretty decent beard now. At least, it looks full and beard-like.

I’m telling you, you should go to An. She’d fix your eyebrows. She got me started… ;)
