I beat Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando this afternoon. I found the secret Insomniac Museum, which was cool, and had neat “deleted scenes”-type features. They had short audio commentary from some of the game developers, and some interactive bits where you could adjust the parameters of various effects (explosions, beams, pulses, and fountains).
The final level was fun, but with a patient use of the proper weaponry, and the Tesla Shield, it was easier than I expected. There was a good plot twist at the end, but the final boss was not that difficult, since I beat it on the first try. Its moves were fairly predictable and easy to handle, and I had a lot of the weapon and armor upgrades.
I’d say it’s nice to get that monkey off of my back… except now I can replay the game in challenge mode, with all of my power-ups, plus the ability to upgrade the weapons to even further levels of insanity. On top of that, Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal was released last week, and since the SCCS will probably get it soon, I’m screwed.
Thankfully, this is my only source of video game distraction. Playing a little bit here and there makes for a nice break. Plus, I can claim I’m studying example implementations of computer graphics…
