The Meaning of Life + 1

I got my lottery number: 43.

Yay! I should be able to get a single in Wharton with this.

Emery got 220, and he, Jake, Taki, and Daren didn’t get their block. I think Emery is trying to convince me to snag one of the loft doubles in the new dorm.

The fact is, I totally don’t mind living in a double. Although you have to share a space with someone, the space as a whole is much, much larger. The two people usually have slightly different sets of friends, so it gives you the opportunity to meet new people. Your roommate often helps to drag you to different events.

Of course, the real question in that case would be if Emery could stand living with me for another year ;o).

Still, something to think about. I’ll have to see what other people are doing with regard to finding a place to try and live on the same hall, or at least in the same dorm. A single is tempting, but maybe picking into the best double on campus is the right thing to do…

Does anyone know what the loft doubles in the new dorm are like? Do you think they’d make a good venue for Emery’s theater?

  1. As I’ve said before, I’d be very wary about picking into the new dorm because it may not be finished on time and things may not work properly the first time.

I would think the theater won’t work well in the loft rooms, but I could be wrong. My impression of how the loft rooms would work best is to put the beds up on the loft and everything else down below. I think the beds will likely be a bad place to watch a movie from since they’re way above, and you’ll lose a lot of seating space that way. But it was hard to get a feel for them without things like walls. What can I say other than wait until the weather gets better and then go take a look in the early evening? But you didn’t hear that from me.

  2. no fair, you know your number already?! i checked bmy mail at 1 and it was empty. well no use going up to campus early just for that…sigh. congrats and good luck!

  3. Queen rocks!

And I think that the New Dorm loft doubles could make a good theater, I think they’re big enough horizontally as well as vertically. Actually, wouldn’t it be cool to project the movie onto the ceiling? You could lie on your back and watch movies without messing up your neck!

  4. Woot! Congratulations!

  5. I lived in an ML barn double with Ben Newman my senior (his sophomore) year, and it worked out pretty well for both of us.
